Refund, Return and Cancellation Policy
Call us today - (281) 555-0100Steve Slaton Appliance Repair stands behind the repairs we perform. This policy describes how we handle scheduling changes, what the diagnostic fee covers, how our warranty works in practice, and how to reach us when something needs to be made right. It applies to all service arranged by phone, online, or through our scheduling form.
1. Changing or cancelling your appointment
Cancellations and reschedules carry no charge any time before your technician has been dispatched. A call to (281) 555-0100 is sufficient. We appreciate as much advance notice as you can manage — it allows us to offer the slot to another household in the area.
If a technician arrives within the agreed window and cannot access the appliance, or if no adult 18 or over is present, we may apply a trip charge equal to the diagnostic fee.
2. The diagnostic fee
The diagnostic fee covers the technician’s time, the drive to your home, and a complete written assessment of the appliance. It is earned once the assessment has been completed and is non-refundable, whether or not you proceed with the repair.
If you approve the recommended repair, the full diagnostic fee is applied as a credit toward the total repair cost — you do not pay it on top.
3. Completed repairs
Because repair is a service performed in your home, completed work is not refundable in the conventional sense. We stand behind it instead:
- If the same issue recurs within one year of the completed repair, we return and redo the work at no charge for labor.
- If a part we installed fails within one year — or within the manufacturer’s own warranty period where that is longer — we replace it at no cost.
- If the original problem persists after a return visit, we refund the labor portion of that repair.
Warranty visits are available during our normal business hours. The person making the claim should be the one named on the original invoice, and you will need the invoice or job number to open a claim.
4. What the warranty does not cover
- A separate, unrelated problem arising after our visit — even on the same appliance.
- Damage from power surges, flooding, pests, hard water, misuse, or continuing to run an appliance we advised you to stop using.
- Any work on the appliance performed by a third party after we completed our repair.
- Wear items consumed through normal use: filters, door gaskets, drive belts, water lines, light bulbs.
- Appliances that were disclosed to you at the time of service as not economically repairable.
5. Parts and returns
Special-order parts are non-refundable once the order is placed. Appliance parts suppliers do not accept special-order returns, and neither can we. A deposit taken for a special-order part is non-refundable once the part has been ordered.
Parts that arrive defective or fail within their warranty period are replaced by us at no cost to you.
Stock parts sold separately (without installation) may be returned within 14 days in original, unopened packaging with proof of purchase. A restocking fee of up to 20% may apply. Electronic control boards, electrical components and special-order items cannot be returned once the packaging is opened.
6. When we decline to repair
When diagnosis shows an appliance cannot be economically or safely repaired, only the diagnostic fee is due. We provide a written summary of our findings so you have documentation when deciding whether to replace the unit.
7. How to request warranty service or a refund
- Call (281) 555-0100 or email service@steveslaton.com.
- Have your invoice or job number, the appliance model number and the original service date ready.
- Describe what has changed or what you are seeing since our visit.
We confirm receipt of every request within 2 business days and aim to resolve it within 10 business days. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method and typically clear within 5–10 business days depending on your financial institution.
8. Chargebacks
Please reach out to us directly before filing a card dispute. Nearly every billing concern can be resolved faster through a direct conversation than through a chargeback process, and we take every legitimate issue seriously.
